I AM the founding father Andre Clark better known as Andre Mizrahi Clark.
I am the founder of Mizrahi. I came out in 1988 and the first house I ever was apart of was
The House of Overness. In fact I was added to that house without even having a meeting or anything. I ended up later ended up leaving a week later.
I then followed my gay mother, Icon Stuart Ebony and became a member
of The House of LaBeija. This is the first house I ever won a trophy in.
My ballroom beginning was definitely not easy what so ever. I was one of those
people who seemed to keep getting chopped no matter what category I would walk. I knew ballroom was something I wanted to excel and thrive in so I never gave up. I got chopped for about a year straight honestly. I finally then started getting my tens. At that moment I knew I had the people's attention and would do my best to keep on climbing and getting better.
Some time later everybody started leaving the house of LaBeija to follow their dreams in a new house, The House of Revlon. At that time in my youth and inexperience in life, I followed suit and left The House of LaBeija and joined the House of Revlon as well. excelled at my ballroom career in the House of Revlon. I had won roughly 75 trophies. I started feeling that I had reached my peak and began to think of starting my own house and movement. I found myself looking at
lots of fashion and designer magazines as I was trying to find a new name. I needed a name that would define me and what I was trying to BUILD. I came across this name: Issac Mizrahi. Something about that name Mizrahi. It just stood out and was so different. At that moment:
The House of Mizrahi was BORN. The first ever Mizrahi ball I threw in 1992 was our grand opening and introduction to what is MIZRAHI. At the time I had the legendary Heidi
by my side as the overall Mother of Mizrahi. 32 years later Mizrahi is still here by the grace of GOD. I am honored to say I have walked more categories than any other single person.
I now have over 1800 trophies since 1988. I still walk balls today however
I have stopped counting my trophies once I reached the number of 1800.
